Watling Gardens

Sector: Residential
Scope of work: Glazed fire screens and power-assisted doors
Project Value: Over £140k
Location: London

Project Overview

Integrity Glass worked with our associate company, NewRise, to deliver Watling Gardens, a residential care home development in London. On this project, we installed over £140k worth of glazed fire screens and managed the installation of power-assisted doors, combining precision, compliance, and a high-quality finish. The collaboration between the two teams allowed the project to progress efficiently from start to finish.

The Challenge

The project included several technical elements that required careful coordination with dynamic planning. The programme also needed flexibility, with sequencing adjustments as work progressed.

How We Worked Together

Working with NewRise was seamless and clearly demonstrated the value of associate companies collaborating closely on a single project. With both teams on site, communication was direct, allowing us to coordinate with their Project Manager, Nathan O’Donnell, and plan efficiently for when our team needed to return to site.

This was particularly important given the strict regulations surrounding fire-rated products, their supporting structures, and the passive fire protection requirements between interfacing elements. Having the drywall contractor and glazing specialists working closely together enabled coordinated design and ensured compliance.

The power-assisted doors were particularly complex because they required precise electrical connections, coordination between multiple trades, and integration with other building systems. With the requirements not initially clear, our Design Manager, Ollie, pulled together all the details and clearly defined each team’s responsibilities, including NewRise and the M&E contractors. This proactive approach ensured the doors were installed safely, efficiently, and without disruption, turning a potentially tricky installation into a smooth success.

By combining expertise and supporting one another, both teams were able to anticipate challenges, adapt to programme changes, and ensure every installation met compliance standards, delivering a smooth and successful project outcome.

The Outcome

Watling Gardens was completed successfully, with all glazed fire screens and power-assisted doors installed to a high standard. The project demonstrated how expertise, teamwork, and clear communication can make even complex installations straightforward and efficient.
